BEACH VACAY PT 2 - GALVESTON
More beach photos!!! Yay for Vacay!!
It felt good to get the camera out and take some photos. We ended up going to the beach after naptime most days which was wonderful. The beach was almost empty and we had amazing light, which as a photographer is the real goal.
We also took a morning to go explore the Galveston Railroad Museum. We were the only ones there! Luke loves trains and Reza and Ethan still do. It was HOT!! LIke Texas heat hot! But we managed to walk through all the open cars while we left drenched in sweat. Mama fail- I forgot to bring water.
Another delight was paying to park on East beach. The older boys used the showers to rinse off when we went before nap times. I think this was the only day we went to the beach before nap-time. And then we went back and napped and did laundry. But the plan was to go back for sunset and walk out on the jetty that we had started to explore but Luke got tired.
If you haven't done this on a trip to Galveston- do it! The boys collected a plethora of hermit crabs. We walked almost 2 miles out and back. We found fish and crabs and chased birds. It was so much fun!! We were exhausted at the end of it. Luckily we had dinner before we went out.
We also spent our last night on Bolivar Peninsula. We took the ferry over and back to drive onto the beach. It was a treat!!! There is no better way to go to the beach than to drive onto the beach with a toddler!! This was a total game-changer and we want to stay on the peninsula next time we go down. And really who doesn't love the ferry? It's so much fun to feel free and walk to the top of the boat or the edge of the boat. Of course, masks are now worn and hand sanitizer utilized after we got back in the car.
It felt good to get away from the prison that our home feels like some days and go outside and away from the tv babysitter and the Fortnite obsession. And I loved being able to photograph my favorite men for 6 whole days in a different setting with yummy light.
